INCLUDES ONE MONTH HACKPGH MEMBERSHIP

This woodworking class will aim to educate students on basic concepts and safe use of wood shop equipment, while crafting a beautiful and custom wooden bread board out of locally sourced hardwoods. Students will leave with an understanding and safety training on the following equipment and skills:

Table Saw
Planer
Jointer
Drill press
Band saw
Palm Sander
Palm Routing with templates
Applying finish

Structure: This class will have one group session, where the entire cohort will work through one breadboard collectively. The class will then have one month of 24/7 access to HackPGH to compete their own breadboard project. The instructor will offer two "Office Hour" sessions to aid students with their projects and provide further guidance, however students are encouraged to utilize HackPGH at their own convenience.

Students are encouraged to also bring additional personal projects to work on at Hack during this membership period, and highly encouraged to continue their membership after class completion.

Date and time:
Initial class: 9a-3p 3/11/23 (required)
Instructor Office Hours: 6-9pm 3/21/23 and 3/28/23 (optional)

Lunch (pizza) will be provided.

Requirements: No woodworking experience needed. All supplies and safety equipment will be provided. Attendance only required at Saturday session.

Before independent use of the space, Students must complete our standard HackPGH introduction to cover safety and logistic messages pertaining to the space. This will be scheduled directly after the Saturday class session.

COVID precautions: No one will be permitted inside with symptoms of a cough/fever/cold/chills. Anyone who is unvaccinated is required to wear a mask at all time. No exceptions.
